President Tinubu Sacks UNIABUJA VC Aisha Maikudi and Others, Announces New Appointments In a significant shake.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the removal of Professor Aisha Maikudi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, now known as Yakubu Gowon University.

This decision comes hours after she presided over a matriculation ceremony at the institution.

Maikudi’s tenure as Vice Chancellor has been marred by controversy, with some lecturers accusing her of occupying the position illegally.

In her place, President Tinubu has appointed Professor Lar Patricia Manko as the Acting Vice Chancellor for a six-month term.

However, it has been clarified that Professor Manko will not be eligible to apply for the substantive Vice Chancellor position when it becomes available.

The leadership overhaul extends beyond the University of Abuja.

President Tinubu also removed Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu from his position as Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Chigbu’s tenure was initially set to end on 14th February, but the President has named Professor Oguejiofu T. Ujam as the new Acting Vice Chancellor of UNN.

Similar to the case at UNIABUJA, Professor Ujam will serve for six months and will not be eligible to apply for the permanent position.

Additionally, the President has made changes to the role of Pro-Chancellor at UNN.

General Ike Nwachukwu has been reassigned to serve as Pro-Chancellor at the University of Uyo, while Engineer Olubunmi Kayode Ojo has been appointed as the new Pro-Chancellor of UNN.

Ojo previously held the same position at the Federal University of Lokoja and the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti.

In another appointment, Professor Zubairu Tajo Abdullahi, the current Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, will now take over as Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja.

President Tinubu also announced the appointment of Senator Sani Stores as the new Pro-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education.
